Migros is the biggest retailer by revenue in Switzerland. Mostly known for groceries, they have a wide range of diverse products, including toys and of course Pokémon TCG products.
Product Range
In general, there are some basic rules about what
kind of Pokémon TCG products you can expect to find in Migros stores:
- Mid-range Collection Boxes like a "Hop's Zacian Ex Box" or a "Mimikyu Ex Box"
Tins with four packs like the Slashing Legends tins
Checklane Blisters with and without promo cards
3-Pack Blisters
Sleeved Booster Packs
Mini Tins
What you typically won't find in Migros stores are:
- Loose Booster Packs or Booster Boxes
- Elite Trainer Boxes
Of course these rules are not set in stone and there could be exceptions.
Pricing
Migros generally sells at the recommended retail price or "UVP" (unverbindliche Preisempfehlung) in German,
which is set by distributors or The Pokémon Company. This means, that in general,
the price per pack is pretty bad. But about once or twice a year, Migros will
have a discount of 30% on all toys, which includes Pokémon TCG products. And the
UVP is an advantage on sets that are valued higher on the secondary market,
as Migros will not adjust their prices to the market.
Locations & Restocks
Migros has at least 650 stores in Switzerland, with some fluctuations. Not every
store will carry Pokémon TCG products, or the whole range of products. Many
stores have resorted to putting Pokémon TCG products with their customer service
as they are very frequently stolen. In general, restocks happen automatically when
the stock of a product reaches zero or a certain threshold for bigger stores.
This can also mean that some stores will not get products if they do not adjust
their stock levels after theft, or if they can't sell out of less desirable products.
The responsible person for non-food can USUALLY order restocks manually, but
recently, especially for mini tins, there seem to be some issues with that with
orders not being fulfilled by the migros warehouse.
